Cloning of Animals

In the modern era, technology has developed to such a certain degree that scientists are able to create new forms of life. One of them is cloning. The debate whether cloning of animals should be allowed or not seems endless.

Those who agree with cloning of animals usually argue that the cells produced fro them can be used to stop animals from becoming extinct. They also add that cloning has a purpose to produce high quality of cells.

Many species are becoming rarer and rarer. Scientists are concerned if they don’t do something to save certain species, these animals will be extinct forever. For this reason, researchers have improved cloning technology so that many rare species can be successfully cloned.

However, not everyone is excited about cloning animals. Some people feel that it could have terrible consequences.

For example, if dinosaurs are cloned, then men could be extinct. It is clear that these ferocious beasts cannot live together with humans. A Brief Summary of Speech Production

Speech production is made possible by the specialized movements of our vocal organs that generate speech sounds waves.

Like all sound production, speech production requires a source of energy. The source of energy for speech production is the steady stream of air that comes from the lungs as we exhale. When we breathe normally, the air stream is inaudible. To become audible, the air stream must vibrate rapidly. The vocal cords cause the air stream to vibrate.

As we walk, the vocal cords open and close rapidly, chopping up the steady air stream into a series of puffs. These puffs are heard as a buzz. But this buzz is still not speech.

To produce speech sounds, the vocal tract must change shape. During speech we continually alter the shape of the vocal tract by moving the tongue and lips, etc. these movements change the acoustic properties of the vocal tract, which in turn produce the different sounds of speech.

Snoring has been associated with sleep apnea, a breathing disorder linked to elevated blood pressure, cardiovascular stress, headaches, depression, and fatigue.

In general, three factors contribute to these vibrations. They are weak muscles, masses encroaching on the airway, and obstructed nasal breathing.

The first factor- weak muscles, explains why most snoring takes place during deep stages of sleep, when throat muscles relax and the tongue falls back, causing vibration.

The second factor-things that crowd the airway can sometimes be blamed on heredity. Obese people are three times more likely to snore than thin ones. And smokers’ throats are irritated daily, causing mucous membranes to swell; narrowing the airway.

The annual teachers’ meeting was the only time that all the teachers got together in one place at one time. It was a 3-hour meeting, from 7 to 10 p.m. Lecturers talked on various subjects. Each talk was followed by a question and answer period. It was an informal, pleasant evening.

The evening always began with a delicious dinner catered by a local restaurant. This year’s host was a Middle Eastern restaurant. Teachers piled as much as they wanted on their paper plates and found a seat outdoors or in the auditorium. Most teachers really seemed to appreciate the food.

For Shane, this evening was his opportunity to check out the female teachers. This year, a beauty walked into the auditorium about 10 minutes late. She sat in the row in front of Shane, just two seats away. Shane couldn’t believe it. She was not only the best-looking woman in the auditorium, but she smiled at him before she sat down. She was tall and had long red hair. She was wearing a sexy black cocktail dress.

'Biofeedback' is a word that was created in the 1960s. It was first used in tests that showed people can change what happens in their bodies by using their minds. Today, some doctors teach patients how to use biofeedback to help them with pain, stomach, heart and blood problems. People also use biofeedback to learn to change bad habits like wanting a cigarette.

Biofeedback teaches people how to relax and control how they feel. When someone uses biofeedback, they try to stop their own pain or make their health better. People who use biofeedback learn about what things make them sick. For example, if someone gets high blood pressure when they are nervous, they learn to relax when something makes them nervous. They also learn what kinds of things make them nervous. People can learn biofeedback by using a machine that shows electricity in their muscles. In one biofeedback machine, a light starts to flash when a person is nervous. The person watches the light and tries to relax. When the person begins to relax, the light slowly stops flashing.

One of the best uses of biofeedback is when a person cannot move an arm or a leg. The biofeedback machine can show them there is still feeling in their muscles. Dear Editor,

I am writing to complain about ads on TV. There are so many ads, especially during my favorite programs. I think they should be stopped for a number of reasons.

First, ads are a nuisance. They go on for a long time and there are so many. Sometimes duration for ads is even longer than the program itself.

Second, ads give a bad influence on people. They try to encourage people to buy unhealthy food like beers, soft drinks, candies, and chips. In other words, they make people want things they do not really need and cannot afford.

Finally, ads play role in what programs people watch. That is because there are lots of ads in popular programs that a lot of people watch. Some programs which are not so popular get stopped because they do not attract enough ads, even though those programs may be someone's favorite.

For those reasons, I think TV stations should stop showing ads. They interrupt programs. They are a bad influence on people and they sometimes put a stop to people's favorite shows. I am sick of ads and now

There are a lot of discussions whether children should be given homework or not.

Some people claim that children do enough work in school already. They also argue that children have hobbies that they want to do after school, such as sports or music. A further point they make is that a lot of homework is pointless and doesn’t help the child learn at all.

However, there are also strong arguments against this point of view. Parents and teachers argue that it is important to find out whether children can work on their own without the support from the teacher. They say that the evening is a good time for children to sit down and think about what they have learnt in the school.

Furthermore they claim that the school day is too short to get anything done that needs doing and it makes sense to send home tasks like independent reading or further writing tasks that don’t need teacher support.

The proponent of prison institution have four major purposes. These purposes are (1) retribution, (2) incapacitation, (3) deterrence, (4) rehabilitation. Retribution means punishment for crimes against society.Depriving criminals of their crimes is a way of making them pay a debt to society for their crimes. Incapacitation refers to the removal of criminals from society so they can no longer harm innocent. Deterrence means the prevention for the future crime. It is hoped that prisons provide warnings to people thinking about committing crimes, and that the possibility of going to prison will discourage people from breaking the law. Rehabilitation refers to activities designed to change criminals into law-abiding citizens, and may include providing educational course in prison, teaching job skills, an offering counselling with a psychologist or social worker.

However, studies have shown that good rehabilitation programs fail to reform released prisoners. The apparent failure of such programs has led many people to stress imprisonment as punishment rather than as treatment. On the other hand, experts also have failed to prove that prisons reduce the crime rate either by incapacitation offenders or by discouraging people from breaking the law. For this reason, some experts believe that it would be cheaper, more humane, and more productive to all except dangerous productive to keep all except dangerous offenders in community correctional centres rather than in prison.

Considering the reasons above , some courts are experimenting with sentences that allow criminals to remain out prison. Some of these sentences require criminals to replay the victims of their crimes, and others make offenders perform various public services in the community.
